South Carolina Teen Dies in Tragic Car Wreck

February 5, 2015

Caroline Live reports that a 16-year-old girl died in a tragic car crash earlier this month. According to police, the collision occurred at the intersection of 10 Acre Road and Bigelow Drive.

South Carolina Highway Patrol claim the girl was heading east on 10 Acre Road shortly after 7 a.m. when she drove off the roadway on the right side and crashed into a ditch. The car rolled, and the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time. Police say the force of the accident threw the young girl from the car.

A spokesperson from the high school the victim attended confirmed the incident. Later, grief counselors visited the school to help staff and students come to terms with the news.

Car Crash Victim Actually Died of Gunshot Wound

Myrtle Beach Online reports that police have ruled the death of a man involved in a car crash to be a homicide. According to police, the man died in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 251. After further investigation, though, they believe he did not die from car crash injuries but, rather, from a gunshot wound.

Coroners conducted an autopsy on the victim and found that the 65-year-old man suffered the gunshot wound at roughly the same time as the collision. Injuries sustained in the car crash initially hid the gunshot wound. Investigators now say the death is suspicious, and they have opened the case to homicide.

Investigators first responded to the scene at approximately 10:30 a.m., when South Carolina Highway Patrol requested their presence. Initially, they found the victim had been in a car accident, but they have now widened their investigation to determine who has shot the man.
